Over the last 20 years, we have evolved from what started as an information portal (Town Pages), becoming a local business directory (Townpages) and finally the company has landed as a full service digital marketing agency (Townpages / tp).

Town Pages (1995 – 2007)

The company was set up in 1995 as a new-media provider of business and community information. The goal back then was to install information kiosks in public areas  that could be used to find local information; cinema times, restaurants, jobs, properties, events, offers, etc. Thousands of kiosks were installed in libraries, tourist locations, supermarkets, leisure centres, railways and shopping centres. The systems were used successfully for years until the Internet became more accessible and more commonplace.

Townpages (2007 – 2014)

As this shift took place and the Internet became more available to the average household, we took the same route as our users, and in 2007, we created a truly local UK business directory that focused on giving users a place to search for business services in their specific area. We continued as a searchable business directory for many years, but our business model developed even further, providing local targeted business pages for our customers. It was this step that propelled us into our current field of operations, search marketing and digital media.

tp (2014 – present)

We traded as Townpages for 7 years as a digital media provider and after careful deliberation, we decided that the brand wasn’t truly representative of the products and services we provided. It was time for a re-brand! After close to a year of customer profiling, segmentation, design, development, customer feedback, usability studies and testing, lots of testing, we re-launched as tp. We wanted to keep the heritage of the company that had come before us, but at the same time, we knew we weren’t in that space anymore and we needed to break free! We hope to be adding even more success to this page in the years to come, but all we can ask for now is to keep on developing, keep current, keep performing and keep our client base. We are now tp. We are a digital marketing provider for SME’s.

Partnering with industry giants like Google and Bing,  allows us to keep on top of industry best practices, which are critical to your success. We are given industry insights, the latest tools, training, research and access to products allowing us to stay one step ahead of the digital world.

We currently have five individuals that have successfully completed the Google AdWords certification exams in search advertising and and two in display advertising. We have two members of staff qualified as accredited professionals with Bing Ads and we’re working towards becoming a Bing Authorised Reseller.

While following Google and Bing best practices, we also utilise eConsultancy’s training and standards. Many of our in-house processes have derived from eConsultancy material. Thanks guys! We are also a great advocate of selective re-marketing, which allows us to target demographics, with which we have had success in a variety of verticals.
